Sony ericsson z530i media player software

The 65 thousand colour main display works well, although it is a little dim in direct sunlight. The phone also has a monochrome external LCD, which clearly displays a standard array of information including time, reception, battery life and any missed call or message indicators. The fact that the external display is not colour does not detract from its usefulness, and probably is a factor in keeping the price of the phone down. Matching the design, the interface is colourful and has a fun feel to it.

The icons, while not overly detailed, are displayed clearly and when combined with the 12 square grid arrangement navigation is fairly intuitive. The same praise cannot be given to the controls however. Like the Wi , the Zi suffers from extremely small buttons and a cramped layout. The keys are circular in shape, and extremely small, and this is further exacerbated by the fact that they overlap.

Inadvertent button presses are a common occurrence and even those with small fingers will struggle with this keypad. Thankfully the five-way navigational pad doesn't suffer the same problem, so surfing the interface is no problem.

Two selection buttons and back and clear keys round out the controls. All the usual features are present on the Zi. PIM functions are available in the form of a calendar, note taker, to-do list, stopwatch, calculator and alarm clock. And, while the Zi is not a Walkman branded phone, MP3 player functionality is provided. The player includes a five-band adjustable equaliser, sorting by artist, genre or title as well as shuffle and loop modes. Unfortunately the phone does not have a 3. Reflecting this model's price tag, the Zi only comes with a VGA camera that shoots at a resolution of x That said, it does come with a host of features, including burst, panorama and frame shooting modes, as well as a night mode and 4x digital zoom.

Both phones have the same form factor and loop aerial, along with similar specs, but this handset has a new keypad and expandable memory slot. We're not convinced by the fish-scale design of the keypad but we're over the moon about the increase in storage space. Above the screen is a 0. The rest of the front section consists of a black rubber-like cover that can be removed and changed, allowing you to customise the phone. On the top left side of the phone there's a large volume button and on the top right side is an infrared port.

The back of the phone houses the loudspeaker and a black battery cover that can also be removed. On the top of the back section is a loop aerial that is very similar to the Zi's, but rounder and smoother. The charging port is located on the bottom of the phone and doubles up as the headset and USB port.

Once you open up the phone, you'll see the xpixel screen that is surrounded by a silver border similar to the external screen and also displays the model number and Sony Ericsson name.

The hinge that attaches the screen to the keypad is particularly chunky and looks out of place. Just below the hinge is the four-way navigation button with a mirrored OK button in the middle. We found the navigation button easy to use but the OK button was too small and squashed to be used comfortably.

Although we managed to select the right options with it, we couldn't help tapping the navigation button at the same time, which was annoying. Either side of the navigation key are soft keys -- the top left key gives you access to call information and the top right takes you to the menu.
